Aluminum Zinc Alloy

IN AW 7050

Available formats: Sheet metal, plates, bars, tubes and profiles.

Features:

Aluminum Alloy Zinc EN AW 7050 is among the forged aluminum alloys, the composition of 7050 aluminum is notable for containing comparatively high amounts of zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu).

Zinc is used to achieve significant increases in strength, at the cost of increased susceptibility to stress corrosion cracking. Among other things, this limits weldability. Copper is used to improve resistance. This comes at the cost of a decrease in corrosion resistance and weldability.

Typical applications and uses:

EN AW 7075 aluminum is ideal for closed die forgings and large forgings for the aerospace industry. This alloy has been specifically designed for structural components subject to high fatigue and the risk of corrosion.

This alloy is specially designed for highly stressed structural elements subject to risks of fatigue and corrosion. In T74, this alloy offers a good compromise between mechanical properties (strength, toughness and fatigue) and resistance to stress corrosion. In the T76 state, it is particularly resistant to exfoliation corrosion.
