Aluminum Alloy Magnesium Silicon EN AW 6061 is an alloy developed to cover in mechanical characteristics the field between 6063 and the alloys of the Aluminum? Copper and Aluminum? Zinc families.
The time between tempering and artificial ripening should not exceed 2 hours. This heat-hardening alloy has a good weld ability but loses almost 30% of the breaking load in the welded area. It has industrial applications such as the manufacture of molds, dies, machinery, tools, etc.
Heat treatments:
Soft annealing / recrystallization annealing at an annealing temperature 380 ° C - 420 ° C, heating time 1 - 2 hours and cooling conditions 30 ° C / h up to 250 ° C, below 250 ° C in the air .
Hardening is performed in annealing solution 525 ° C -540 ° C and tempering with water. The natural aging treatment is carried out in 5 - 8 days and the artificial one at 155 ° C -190 ° C and 4 - 16 hours.
